Townhouses, Culinary Institute of America

The project introduced a townhouse apartment style unit targeted toward upperclassmen. This product is a fully appointed 3-story, 8-bedroom townhouse. Each apartment includes 8 single bedrooms, a kitchen with major appliances, laundry facilities and a generous sized living and dining room area.

These structures fit comfortably in the rolling, wooded terrain at the north end of the campus. Gathering spaces for dining, studying and socializing on the first floor are conveniently accessed from the main entry. The small footprint of the buildings was instrumental in creating this relaxed “fit” by minimizing site disruption and allowing the creation of a quiet, compact residential cluster with ample adjacent areas.

The project boasts a number of sustainable features such as low impact land planning, geothermal heating and cooling, low or no VOC finishes, green furniture and abundant natural light.
